rpm dance, LLC is a performing arts academy located in Northern Suffolk, VA.

At rpm dance, we believe your children are TOMORROW’S WORLD CHANGERS. So we commit ourselves to providing them with the tools they need to achieve the highest levels of success. Our goal is to promote excellence, discipline and integrity in the performing arts.

Founded in 2005 by former Radio City Rockette and Suffolk native Renée Perry Mitchell, rpm dance offers New York City quality professional training in dance, voice, and acting, at affordable Suffolk prices.

In our family-friendly environment, we seek to nourish the creative potential in each individual. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide personalized instruction from beginners to professionals in all forms of dance, including ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop.

Our mission is to redeem our culture for God’s glory through the development of young performing artists - tomorrow's world changers.

Please note that enrolling in classes using our online registration portal automatically charges a one-time annual $25 registration fee (per family) to your account. You then need to initiate payments through the online customer portal.

Creating a new rpm dance account

If you are new to rpm dance, you first need to create a new account. Please read the details below and click here when you are ready to begin.

Follow all the onscreen instructions and fill in all the required information. Then click submit.

You have the option to enter a credit card when you register for classes.

NOTE: We will not initiate any payments without your consent.

After creating your account, you may then enroll your student in class(es). When enrollment takes place, a $25 registration fee is automatically posted to your rpm account.

NOTE: This is not charged to your card, but to your rpm account as a receivable due.

The charges for the tuition portion will also be posted to your account once we received and review your registration.

NOTE: You are responsible for initiating the first month's payment plus the $25 registration fee. Likewise, all subsequent payments for tuition must be initiated by you.

This is done by logging in through the customer portal using the id and password you created during setup.

DMI 2015 National Finals - Myrtle Beach, SC

At the end of June 2015, rpm Dance COMPANY was invited to Dance Makers 2015 National Finals in Myrtle Beach, SC to compete.

Parents: Please help us maintain the dress code. Your cooperation is appreciated. The dress code instills discipline and encourages your children to work toward the next level.

Note to current students: Please realize that you are the role models at rpm dance. The younger students are watching you. Let's set a good example for them.

Musical Theatre Students... should wear either a solid color leotard, tank top, or t-shirt with solid color jazz pants or non-baggy sweats. Jazz, Ballet shoes or Dance Sneakers are appropriate for these classes.

For performances, Capezio Slide-In Jazz Bootie in Caramel #CG05 is required.

Girls' Shoes

Creative Movement and Beginning Combo 1:

Ballet – Capezio Technik/ Leather (wider feet may try Leo’s 045 also in leather)

Tap – Capezio Tie “Jr. Tyette” #625

Beginning Combo 2:

Ballet - Capezio Technik/ Leather (wider feet may try Leo’s 045 also in leather)

Tap – Leo 1012 (this is an inexpensive lace-up shoe)

Ballet for all other levels

Intermediate Combo:

Tap – Black Leo #4028 in leather (if tap is your thing; for approx. $63.95) or

Capezio Tapster or Leo Jr. Jazz #1012 in Faux Leather as a cheaper option (for approx. $29.95) Either is fine.

*Note: For all students that have shoes from last year, please switch to the above brands as you grow out of your current shoes. Students should all have the same style/color of shoe for performances.


Hair must be worn away from the face in a classical bun with no bangs for all ballet, jazz, and modern classes. A pony-tail is permissible for Hip-Hop, Tap, and Musical Theatre classes. Solid sweats may be worn over leotards for Hip-Hop classes.

Boys, hair should be neat and out of the eyes.

Girls Attire:

Ballet Skirts... are permissible for Creative Movement and Beginning Combo classes only.


Creative Movement - Pink Leotard

Beginning Jazz & Beginning Combo - Light Blue Leotard

All Level 1 disciplines - Hunter Green Leotard

All Level 2 disciplines - Navy Blue Leotard

All Level 3 disciplines (see exceptions below) - Royal Blue Leotard

All Level 4 disciplines, Contemporary 3, Hip-Hop 3, Modern 3, Pointe, & Tap 3 - Burgundy Leotard

Teen Level - Lavender Leotard


All students should wear Pink Tights by Bloch. Beginning and Combo level classes should wear footed tights. Intermediate levels and above may wear footed tights or Transition/Adaptatoe Bloch Tights, also in Pink.

Boys Attire:

All Levels: Solid White Tee-Shirt with either Solid Black Sweat Pants or Shorts.
