“God, where do I need courage, to act according to your will?” A noble prayer to start the day.
In Chronicles 19, two kings approached the prophet Micaiah to ask him what God was saying about the troops of Israel going to war. Four hundred pagan prophets had already spoken in agreement on the matter, and now Micaiah was asked for his thoughts. This is what the scriptures say in verses 12 & 13:
“Meanwhile, the messenger who went to get Micaiah said to him, “Look, all the prophets are promising victory for the king. Be sure you agree with them and promise success. But Micaiah replied, “As surely as the LORD lives, I will say only what my God tells me to say.”
I would like to have that kind of courage! Wouldn’t you? The scriptures also say that we have not, because we ask not. So today, I am asking God for courage to follow Him more closely, and to act, or not act, according to what He says. I suspect that there are many areas where I should move out in action, more boldly, yet I am insecure, so I do not. Furthermore, I bet there are things that I should simply stop doing, but I continue to do because it’s comfortable. Today I’m asking God to show me those blindspots and enable me to move about with courage. After all, if God is for us, who can be against us?
